THE PURPOSE OF OUR CHARITY AVIATION MSEUM
The establishment and maintenance of an aviation museum for the collection, preservation, conversation, restoration, explanation, interpretation, and display of artifacts,memorabilia, maps, historical records, books, photographs,and other documents;
The organising of meetings,lectures, classes, exibitions, and other forms of education and enlightment.
The direct benefits, which flow from this purpose, include improved public knowledge of Sir Ernest Shackleton, RAF Ballykelly and its connection with the Battle of the Atlantic, early aviation history in Ireland to the present day which includes the names of Joseph Cordner, Harry Ferguson. Amelia Earhart, General Balbo, the American Astronaut Jim Irwin, and Richard Branson giving the public an overall improved access to educational resources on the history, culture, and heritage of aviation in Ireland

TO PROVIDE A LIVING MUSEUM THAT FOSTERS INTERPRETIVE EDUCATION AND OUT-REACH FOR ALL WHO VISIT BALLYKELLY AIRFIELS
The objective of the museum, in accordance with its mission, is to provide the public access to a historical memorable re-creation of the Ballykelly airfield building associated with WW2, The Cold War, and the Northern Ireland Troubles much as might it would have looked like in the early1940s 1950s, -1971 and 1971-2008. With a window on the shores of Lough Foyle containing its abundance of wild life,walks along the sea wall and the magnificent backdrop of Binevenagh /Benevenagh Mountain dominating the flat expanse of the Roe Valley, both the exterior of the facilities as well as the exibits contained within will be limited exclusively to the pre and post-WW2 era of aviation and its history in the contex of 6 airfields in the county of Londonderry. the airfields connection with the Irish explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton and the connection with Roy Chadwick the designer of the Avro Shackleton.
